Web Site Design Steps
While the needs of each project and client are unique (see services and approach), here are the general steps to take you from beginning to launch for your web site:
Phase 1 – Kick-off
- Initial consultation to review your needs and goals
- Information and requirements gathering
- Industry or organization research
- Review potential site structure, color and style preferences, images, logos, etc.
- Follow-up conversations as necessary
Phase 2 – Planning
- Create a timeline and develop tasks
- Review and decide on a plan together
Phase 3 – Conceptual Design
- This is a collaborative effort to determine the design architecture, which includes the overall look and feel, page templates, navigation and links, logos, banner, number of pages, and type of content required for each page
- Prototypes or limited models may be reviewed to help visualize concepts
- At this stage, all the design components will be approved
Phase 4 – Site Development
- This step is the actual programming of the complete site and incorporation of all the components, including: all pages, links and navigation, banner, logos, text loaded, etc.
- As this step is completed, you can test the site and any refinements will be made
- If search engine optimization or web marketing is included in the project, it may be completed now or after the initial launch
- At this stage, the site will be approved
Phase 5 – Launch
- Upload the site and provide a valuable tool for your customers or users
Post Launch Activities
- Make changes to the site, expand the site, continue making improvements to search engine optimization and web marketing
